That is the whole trick behind Zcash. A zero-knowledge proof lets the network check that a transaction is valid without ever reading who sent it, who got it, or how much. The frog on the right is encrypted into ℤ. Hover or hold to prove it is there.

Zcash (ZEC) launched on October 28, 2016. Same 21 million cap and halvings as Bitcoin, built by a team of cryptographers around Zooko Wilcox. The difference: it can hide who paid whom, and how much, with math instead of trust.
